1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
In this one verse, Paul (the author of Thessalonians) tells us how to make God’s word effective in our lives.
So effective, that many of the problems we would face without it, we are able to both face and overcome by the power of God working in us!
The secret? No matter the shortcomings of those all around us (of which there will be many), when we hear a message from God’s holy word and we receive it, not as the words of man, but as the words of God, simply because it came from God’s word, then God will NOT overlook this and He will bless its effectiveness in your life!
Now, with a fresh understanding, here’s that verse again: 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
I have found that when I separate the words of God from my personal preferences and from the actions of people, and focus on letting God help me, the word of God has been far more effective in my life!
I encourage you to begin this practice in your life as well…I believe the same effect, from the same God, will also take place for you!
